Located in the city center, Hai Chau District has favourable conditions for promoting the development of the physical fitness and sports movements.

With the attention and direction of leaders at all levels, the Hai Chau District Centre for Culture, Information and Sports has issued plans and policies to facilitate the implementation of sports activities.

According to the centre’s Director Tran Van Manh, since 2013, the district has successfully organised the Olympic Run Day for Public Health with the participation of 10,000 government officials and local residents.

Notably, every year, the district mobilises more than 260 runners to participate in the municipal marathon.

Also, the district authorities coordinate with relevant units to organise sports tournaments for civil servants and public employees such as football, badminton and swimming tournaments for teenagers and children; dance competitions for elderly women; and table tennis and badminton contests for the elderly.

“Through these tournaments, people's awareness about the importance of sports is enhanced, which is an important basis for spreading sports movements in the future" said Mr. Manh.

In Ngu Hanh Son District, many sports clubs have been established and put into operation effectively in order to meet the increasing demand of locals.

According to Mr. Huynh Ngoc Cuong from the Ngu Hanh Son Ditsrict-based Centre for Culture, Sports and Information, his centre has worked with the Culture and Information Office, and the ward-level authorities, to open grassroots sports clubs such as chess, martial arts and billiards.

Moreover, the Center in collaboration with the district’s Office of Education and Training maintains an annual organisation of sports tournaments for students, thereby contributing to raising awareness about the benefits of sports among students and their parents.

With the companionship of organisations and individuals, the district develops a variety of sports in the form of socialisation such as aerobics, bodybuilding, billiards, tennis and football, Mr. Cuong informed.

In a similar vein, many cultural and sports institutions have been built in Hoa Vang District, contributing to promoting the spirit of health training among local people. Currently, many communes in the district have focused on purchasing sports and physical training equipment placed in public and densely populated places.

According to Director of the Hoa Vang District-based Centre for Culture, Sports and Information Le Dinh Minh Hai, mass sports movements in the district has developed strongly, especially in Hoa Phuoc, Hoa Chau, Hoa Son and Hoa Phong communes. These localities always achieve high achievements when participating in the district-hosted sports tournaments.

Besides, there are many public and non-public sports fields in Hoa Vang District in a bid to serve the entertainment needs of local people, including football pitches, multi-purpose gymnasiums, tennis courts, and swimming pools at primary and secondary schools.
